It was a cold winter night. In the middle of the forest was a small village. They had set a huge fire to keep them warm. Soon the fire touched the trees and soon the wildfire spread. Animals ran to safe places while the rest got injured or some burned to death. The elephants were said to be the makers of the forest. They arrived at a huge river and changed the course of the water to the fire. The fire burned out and the animals returned and bowed. Animals started helping the animals injured by taking them to their caves and healing them while the rest wild animals ate the dead.

Blue was a small pup and was with his mother Luna and Alaska. Suddenly, Blue saw a small basket behind a dead tree and started pawing his mother. The wolves soon started surrounding the trees and walking slowly to the basket. Blue couldn't take it anymore with the slow walking and rushed to the basket. He whined loudly and the other animals came. In the basket, cuddled in cloths was a small baby boy. ' It's a man! A small boy! Oh Alaska! can we please keep him? I will raise him like my son.' whined Luna. ' All right, but it shall have a name' he replied. ' I know!' said Luna. ' We will name him Peter'.

15 years had passed and Peter had grown up to be a fine young man. The cubs were bigger and now reached till Peter's knees. Peter had grown up with the wolves and was just like them. They played together, sat together and slept in a big corner together. Peter had a few other friends too like Rio the Marten and Emma the Lynx. Emma was his best friend aside from the pups. Every day, at dawn, they would meet each other near the lake. One day, they met up as usual when suddenly, Peter saw a girl who looked just like him coming with a strange object on her head. She looked at him and smiled. Then she looked at him again, her eyes narrowed. ' Mona!' she called and from behind the bushes came a woman wearing a sari which Peter thought was a weird type of clothing. She too narrowed her eyes and soon tears were rolling down her cheeks.

Peter had a strong feeling he had seen her somewhere and too got of the lynx and drew near. The lynx called the pack near her and told them to go bring Luna. ' He looks like my son I had left in the forest when the fire had started 15 years ago.' said the woman ' Do you think it's him Aanya? Is he my son?' 'He does look like you, I mean he has your eyes and Pa's face, he must be your son.' she said. ' Then he must be yours' said a voice. It was from Luna. ' You may take him but remember Peter, You can come here any time you want, we will wait for you every day.' she said.

Peter was astonished but knew it was time. By then the pack had arrived to stay goodbye to him. ' I will come here every day, I promise' he said. He turned to the two girls and to the mother. she had tears and picked him up. ' Peter, I missed you. you even got a little sister.' she pointed at little Aanya. ' She always wished to meet you.' she said. Peter smiled at the girl. He held their hand. He looked back once more at the animals and smiled and walked away, leaving the animals both sad and happy for their little Peter.
