100 - An accidental call
100 - An accidental call
"Wake up! Wake up Ravi", said my mom at 6 in the morning when the alarm rang along and I woke up suddenly with a very bad dream having left. incomplete. "It's time for school", she added on I had my bath and went on for my school. The first lecture was English, but to our surprise our teacher was absent for the very first time! Some exclaimed happily while some sighed over it As it was a proxy period of Ms Reeta, she taught us about some emergency numbers. She started from 100-The number for police then continued with 101- Fire followed by 103-Ambulance and 108- Search & rescue while she explained each of them in brief, I was still thinking about the first one "100" I till date do not understand why, but I was truly amazed and thought about it as if I had some connection to it. As soon as the lecture ended, till the time the next teacher came, we were discussing about the emergency numbers. I asked my friends about they having remember trying any of these, to which Reema replied, "Ravi, I rembember my mom dialing 102 accidentely. As soon as she realised, she hanged up. I was frightened for a second, but nothing happend after that. I will surely ask her more about what exactly happened, today itself. After the school ended, I rushed back home, grabbed my mom's phone and dialed the number 100 but was too afraid to click on the green call button. I just took the phone near to my ear and pretended as if I was talking to the police. My words were "I am kidnapped by a gang of kidnappers. I don't know where I am! Please trace my location and save me. I can see a temple and a mosque around me.That's the only landmark, please save me." After I was done, I just left the phone undisturbed on the couch. It was hardly a minute before I went back to the phone for completing my notes, and the moment I took the phone and the the thing which I saw on it turned my whole world upside down! I saw that the number was already dialed and whatever I said got recorded and heard by some person on the other line! I sticked the phone to my ear and heard a man who was apparently some authorised offices saying "Could you tell me something more about the place around you?" I immediately hanged up and realized that the button had got pressed mistakenly. I was truly perplexed. Before I could actually think of resolving this mess, the doorbell rang "Ting-Tong" my mom went on for opening the door, and then my luck left me completely alone. It was a group of police officers! My heartbeat became fast. I was shivering out of fear. The police started investigating my house and interrogated my mom and stopped only after I interrupted in between that the call was mistake. After a lot of explanations the police finally left and then my mom was at her worst state, she scolded, me so much that I would barely stop crying. The next day when I went to school, I asked Reema about her mom's call and recited the whole misery to her in a precise manner. She said that she had asked her mom about it the previous day and her mom said the following words -"Oh! That call actually did not connect at all. I had dialed '1020' instead of '102' " After hearing this, I really did not have words. I grew speechless. I could only learn a moral of not taking up things leniently from next time.
