What If

What If

What if the sun and the moon are best friends,

But the lights they display are too different to blend,

So they can't shake hands or talk about things,

Separated at tables by two distant ends.

What if the sun and the moon just can't wait,

For the days they can share the same time and same space,

When they both see each other and seem to embrace,

But they do it from far and not face to face.

What if the sun and the moon hate the days,

When the view of their friend is blurred by the haze,

Or they know that their distance is too far away,

So they shine on their own, in their own different way.

What if the sun and the moon try to tell us,

To ignore the small things that can come in between us,

And tame the wild urges that often compel us,

When some friendships hold, inspired by the distance.
