We, The Nation
We, The Nation
O, the sense of exhilaration…
As the tricolour unfolds and spreads
All the heads turned in unison,
Towards that single piece of cloth
Depicting much more than a weave of threads…
The rhythmic hum of the anthem,
With the unheard throbbing of the heart
An amalgamation of different pursuits
Even if just for a few moments,
But that connection of a sacred sort
Celebration, it is undoubtedly...
Perhaps not of independence or of a constitution
But of a foundation on which our home was built
Of the roots that hold us as we declare ourselves cosmopolitan
Of that identity that we carry as a nation
Even though we may have divided opinions
Of a feeling that resides within us so deep
Of the pride that shines upon us,
When we say, we are Indians
