Touch Of Rain
Touch Of Rain

I lay on the terrace-cot,
Watching stars winking at me.
Oh! What a bliss it was!
To see them shining brightly.
Went to bed dreaming
About the starry night,
Thinking I shall, next day-
Revisit the paradise.
I awakened next morning
But I wore a frown,
For when I looked out of the window,
I saw a few black clouds.
I hoped, hoped and hoped
The clouds should wither away;
I crossed my fingers all the time,
To God, I did pray.
Alas! The sky darkened.
Lightning struck and boomed.
Down poured a shower,
Bringing with it a gloom.
Pressing my nose against the window,
I stared at raindrops for hours.
But what reflected in my eyes
Were my beloved stars.
Darkness fell, rain slackened;
Still, I was melancholic.
Hopelessness spread through me
Like some nasty pandemic.
LOOK! WHAT I SAW...
Flowers of my rain-lily
Which, like me, enjoyed the moonlight,
After bathing in rain today were,
To my surprise, exceptionally bright.
I opened the window,
A soft drizzle greeted me cheerfully.
A smile rose on my lips;
That ended my melancholy.
Yes, I didn't see the stars
Yes, I did miss them.
But happiness was found even in the
Once-gloomy patter of the rain.
