Those Were The Days
Those Were The Days

Today morning, with a cup of tea
Sitting by the window, to see
Life rushing out on the streets
Everyone seems busy like a bee
Shopkeepers are busy cleaning
Cars are busy honking
Kids are playing on the bus stop
Mothers are busy controlling
Everyone seems in a hurry
Kids however have no worry
Childhood is such a blessing
It goes away in a scurry
Those dreamy afternoon naps
Meeting friends with customary claps
Inventing games on the go, or
Singing and dancing perhaps
Pretending to sleep at night
When asked to switch off the light
That same old trap of chocolate ice cream
And you give up your act for a bite
But we so want to grow up
When dreams of adulthood pile up
And then we say, " those were the days"
Sitting by the window holding a tea cup
