This Is How The World Works
This Is How The World Works
As I am lying on the hospital bed
With broken arm and injured head
I have lost my job that I worked so hard for
Where the boss didn’t think twice before showing me the door
I remembered what my mother used to say
On whose words of wisdom I used to bray
She used to say in this world which is a delusion
To stay alive son, we need an illusion
We wait our entire life for that one chance
But when we get it at last, we have long lost our stance
We don’t even realize the arrival of these winds of change
Where we never think twice before handing over our pride and dignity in exchange
And after giving all that we have got to reach the top
All of us have long forgotten how to stop
She said this isn’t your fault
We humans live only to exalt
Ironic is the word that defines life
ss="ql-align-center">Because with a smile on our lips from within we strife
We are hypocrites you know
When our own houses are made of glass at others’ stones we throw
Pain is the boon that can set us free
Or is a bane that can only result in misery.
Never ever forget son, however loud may be the noise
You won’t be able to ignore your heart’s voice
And in world made by Lord’s hands
It takes a devil to make amends
We exercise caution over foes, who we think, are the worst
And yet the person closest to you betrays you first
Good choice is keeping distance you see
Because before strangers, your fake pals will flee.
Hate, despair, envy and cruelty are feared foremost
Yet love is the thing that hurts the most
And son, despite all your quirks
This is how the world works!
