The Way Time Just Slips
The Way Time Just Slips
A graveyard without headstones or flowers,
Haunted by the ghosts of memories,
Memories that keep playing like a broken record,
On a hot summer's day.
The sway of the trees,
The wind blowing through.
The now vacant area was carefree, funny,
And wonderful bonds were made.
That's exactly how I felt
As I walked through the school today
That's exactly how I'll feel years from today
When I walk around one last time before saying goodbye.
To my school years and move on to college.
Years.... but it feels as if only yesterday
I was graduating from kindergarten
Funny how time flies and
The most precious things
Come in only small, one time packages.
That, in the end, is crumpled up
While the remains are seared and parched,
Imprinted forever in the deepest corner of one's memory.
