The Sound Of silence
The Sound Of silence

Silence be the end of all things
Silence the death of sound
Silence rules, over hesitant fools
Leaving them helpless and bound
Silence reigns over empty rooms
Exams and broken homes
It preys on the weak, who yonder and seek
Escape from the continuous drone
Of noise that makes up life itself
That is found between friends and lovers
Oh how it rules in the classroom of schools
And in the tone of disappointed mothers
Noise and silence in a constant war
A fight between whisper and scream
Oh how they spar, over distended guitars
Realisation that it was a dream
But we must seek comfort that it will not last
One must always win
The loser will hide, shielding its pride
As the victor succumbs to the din.
