The Running Monkey
The Running Monkey
The wandering monkey took a deep breath,
As he jumped off into the unknown with a little fret,
He was weary, thirsty and broken
His world has left him all alone!
He never thought he'd fall from the height,
He followed the rules of the stone!
But as the winds brushed against his skin,
He could remember the last memory that shone.
His people that stood by him
As he first won the game.
The feast that the king had thrown
People gathering in his name.
The stupid monkey ran too fast
For his own steps to follow his pace.
He fell but too hard, and there he saw
The dragon staring at him in the face.
His legs shivered as took a step back,
The dragon drew a breath of fire.
He won't live long the monkey thought,
And let out a scream similar to the king's choir.
The dragon heard a singing monkey
Jumping in a loop,
And in place of burning the flesh
He laughed at the funny fool.
The monkey heard the dragon laugh and in his jump he found,
A sword that was stuck in the dragon's wing and a deep wound.
He moved in slowly to the wing
And drove the sword out.
The dragon screamed in pain but free
He flew away , to take a new route.
The monkey returned to the king,
And tales of the monkey who slayed the dragon
Were known all about.
The victory lasted, till one night,
The kingdom faced a threat,
The mighty monkey, the dragon killer
Was called in for the quest.
The Monkey shivered in the place
And let out a fake smile,
For the first chance of exit
The monkey ran off the king's sight.
The monkey ran and ran
Till he fell off a cliff
The tales of the running monkey are told
To those who lie and stall,
For it is the landing that kills you, not the fall.
