The One Of My Choice

Disappointment on faces,

hearts full of wrath.

Brought my newborn hands,

close to my heart.

I cried with a trembling voice,

asking for love... the one of my choice.

Childhood heart was filled with joy,

when it was broken... my brother's toy.

I read torn pages of his book,

ate his plate's unwanted food.

Falling tears questioned the eyes,

when will i get things.... the one of my choice?

Teenage confusion got mixed with the world's restrictions,

Mind got loaded with outside's unsafe conditions.

Gender started seeming like a bane,

Why educating girls is still considered to be insane?

Happiness and independence both at an unaffordable price,

when will I get freedom... the one of my choice?

The day I thought of being blessed,

all they did was haggle and bargained.

Married to a perfect man of world's mindset,

I ended up being his personal maid.

All hopes got shattered and devoiced,

when will i get respect... the one of my choice?

Bond with family weakened along with my sight,

how could I be loved with my hairs white?

Motherly love got no care in return,

darkness of loneliness made me a taciturn.

Vapid life ended with a vacous noise,

I never lived life...the one of my choice.
