The Lamp

The lamp in my palm lights up my path
A flickering flame threatened by wind
But if you would shield it from the wind’s wrath
Lord, I shall walk on and reach my home

My home is far, the path is narrow
I am alone, there’s fear in my heart
Creatures of night harrow my marrow
Shield this lamp Lord, shield it, I pray

Until I reach home this flame should blaze
Then I won’t any more need this light
For upon the One Light there I shall gaze
Content, I am home with you Lord
