The Colours
The Colours
Lost somewhere in the train of my thoughts, during my routine terrace strolls at 7 pm
Did I freeze, gazing at a heavenly sight in the limitless sky,
The Colors?
Extraordinarily beautiful ones,
Those that I did not mind investing my entire break, diving in
One after the other, each color gradually unfolding its own nicely folded curtain of memory, retained on the shelf of my mind
Taking a glance at the RED, I got reminded of BLOOD oozing out from my 6 years old knees, at every attempt of riding my bicycle heroically
The ORANGE brought back those hot summer vacations when we would deny having an afternoon nap,
wait for that one honk from ice cream cart
for our best-loved ORANGE BARS
The YELLOW
Oh how I remember 8 years old me, wearing those BANGLES from mom's almirah, pairing with a saree, posing in front of the mirror with a hand on my waist
The GREEN
Reminded me of my very first botany class at boarding school
Those eager eyes, observing the diversity in the venation of LEAVES
The BLUE
Yes, the blue made me recapture that well-ironed pleated blue TUNIC DRESS, I would wear, hopping to school
So, the next time you encounter such an attractive sight,
DO PAUSE
DO LET YOUR MIND WANDER
DO RECALL AND TRY TO REMEMBER
DO WELCOME THE MEMORIES KICKING IN
DO KEEP ALIVE THIS MAGIC
