That Wonderful Dream
That Wonderful Dream
She let out a feeble cry
Then opened her eyes a little
Puckered up her pink lips
As if to let out a whistle
She stretched her tiny arms and legs
Looked around in awe
The one looking tired must be her mum
The proud one must be her pa
Her parents rejoiced her birth
And gave alms to the ones in need
They nestled her in a cosy bed
Took care of the burps and feed
She got a lot of blessings
More than the stars in the sky
Her brothers fulfilled her every wish
She was the apple of their eye
She loved learning new rhymes
And playing in the sand pit
Her teacher had to prod her to speak
She was such a shy kid
She skipped rope and fell so often
Scraped her elbows, grazed her knees
The awful medic pricked her with a needle
And swathed her in bandages
She had always been a cry baby
In tears at the drop of a hat
The blue green colour of her eyes got washed away
Oh dear, wasn't she upset about that
She loved playing house with her friends
They would have tea in a toy cup
Her dolls held a place of pride
In fancy linen they would dress up
She had a soft corner for kitties
Stray cats could be found in her garden
They got a biscuit for their good behaviour
In case of any mischief, she was a strict warden
Santa was her secret buddy
Every year he brought a wonderful present
Sweets and toys and games too, which
Secretly her friends would resent
She loved her papa's tall tales
And the lullabies her mumma sang
She was happily ensconced in her own world
But ohhhh!! the shrill alarm clock rang
And there she lay on the bed on a Monday morning
Beginning to fret over the million things to do
But reliving those joyous memories had refreshed her
And brought a smile to her face too
