Nature'S Downfall

Trees and woods, luscious green,
Forests turned to smoke.
Many an oak and fir and pine
Felled by the woodman's stroke.
Brilliant skies and snowy clouds
Covered by the factory fumes.
Fresh brown earth and grasses green
Hidden by the garbage dunes
Many a doe and silver hart
Hung beheaded on the wall.
Cornered lion, struck with fear
Awaiting the hunter's bugle call.
Will we sit by, calm and mute
While around us, Nature falls?
I, for one, can't witness this
And do nothing at all.
