Masquerades

Masquerades

In this city

Where it is always dark,

Ugly faces hide

Under Masquerades.

I see a face, dusky,

Eyes darker than black.

I step closer

to marvel his colours.

He, a Rubik’s cube

I, an obsessive compulsive.

He, a puzzle

I, a lover of solving.

Our fate was clear

So we began.

I started putting his colours together,

He complied, and let me.

I do not hurry, he does not rush

At every point, we make the ‘now’ perfect.

And that’s how we know

All will be good.

But don’t you think I am a fool

For I know

Two parallels never collide.

But we’ll never know

If we never try.
