Little Sparrow

Before the sparrows came,

This land was green and bountiful

Song and love filled the morning air

And peace was not far away.

 

Before the sparrows came,

These people where one

In a marvelous dance

Of freedom and joy.

 

Before the sparrows came,

All children and adults

Were treated as one

No segregation of mankind.

 

Then the sparrows came,

And nothing grew the same

Song and love where something strange

And peace was hard to find.

 

Then the sparrows stayed,

Everyone was changed

No joy was in the air

Not even from oneself.

 

And still the sparrows stay,

All children cry with fear

Of what the sparrows have done

And nothing stays the same.
