Let Love Be The Reason To Survive

The world is full of wonders

It has rains and it has thunders

It has flowers and leaves and cactus

It has lions and rats and octopus

It has beauty in all forms

Living or still, draught or storms

It also has the brains to understand

The hows and whys and whats of land

But this brain is with a chosen few

Who use it on things old and new?

This species is the best of all

It can even keep God inside a wall

Humans indeed have great minds

They can convert dust to dimes

They work on reasoning and science

Religion and crime are their favorite pass times

Doctors, teachers, engineers,

Sweepers, farmers, housekeepers,

Lawyers, scientists, astronomers,

Drivers, cooks, bankers, painters

Yes they come in all the flavors

And they feel they are the saviors

They are God's best creation

Earth will be heaven by the next generation

But then one day I saw a picture

Whose hero was an alien creature

And then I realized that earth is fab

But what if we are rats in this lab

What if there is a better being

Who is just experimenting

Watching us work, sleep, and eat

Helping us stand on our feet

What if it is watching us grow

Comparing us with ant and crow

Making us plan the development of our race

Incepting ideas at every pace

Or what if they are just studying

Power of our brains without interrupting

Analyzing our buildings, trucks, and foods

Our innovations, feelings, and moods

What if they have already concluded

That in a few centuries humans would be dead

The cause would be our mind

And the heart and feelings of every kind

What if our greed for power and penny

Would itself take the lives of many

Plus our fight with the environment

Would deliver us to our very end

What if our varied cultures, non-acceptance

Different faiths, and intolerance

What if it makes us all so black inside

That we get washed away in a single tide

Greed, hatred, jealousy, and lies

Will end our existence under these skies

Honesty, humanity, and kindness are vital to life

And let love be the reason to survive
