Jinnah and Savarkar: Worshipping False Gods
Jinnah and Savarkar: Worshipping False Gods
Two names famous in Indian history.
Both accused of religious bigotry.
Both were once die-hard nationalists.
Both were also known to be atheists.
Both went to England for higher education.
Both fought for the cause of their nation.
One defended Tilak in his trial for sedition.
The other spent a decade in a political prison.
Scarcely would anyone have believed if told,
That two of India's most patriotic individuals,
Would under some unfortunate influence,
Or out of lust for power, turn communal.
Both propagated that Hindus and Muslims,
Cannot co-exist in one nation.
Sowing the seeds of religious hatred,
Leading to undivided India's partition.
But their zealous followers don't know or ignore,
That they never practised what they preached.
That the politics of religion or the religion of politics,
Was the closest to God that they ever reached.
