Independence Of India

Independence Of India

Oh! My god the British were frauds,

When they came we thought they were boons from god;

They came as traders but climbed on ladders,

Now they wanted to rule, they thought Indians were fools,

But wise people like Tipu (tiger of Mysore) knew what the British will do.

He was as brave as a knight, and enemies couldn't escape from his sight;

He fought till the end to all those, whom the British were so willing to send;

But luck, of course not always at one’s side,

Unfortunately he died;

Social practices prevailed,

More goods sailed, company's profits availed;

Ram Mohan Roy was also very wise,

His thoughts were enormous in size,

He crossed the seas to know what was wrong;

And he came to know that the company's wish list was long;

                                                        It was finally, that we saw the sparks

Mangal Pandey raised his sword,

Oh! My god British were frauds…

Then, the Hindu and Muslim soldiers were deceived,

The bullets they used had cow and pig fat on the grease;

Newspapers and letters were stopped,

All ways to send messages were blocked,

But, I must say, Indians again rocked,

They wrote plans on chapattis and lotus flowers, sent them as messages; everywhere,

India, knew it was time for the freedom sphere;

At last we started the fight,

Though we were defeated we knew we were right;

Struggle continued, to our willpower we were glued.

Martyrs, were very brave

Everyone must have saluted their grave.

Rebellions increased more and more

Company's grief too soared;

Yet, being very clever, they could rule India for 100 years more;

But every nation has its hero, who turns villainous powers to a zero,

Gandhiji I am talking about,

The leader of those, who threw the British out;

A prophet of ahimsa and truth;

“His life was a light that shone in this country with all its might.”

Mahatma, to him as we say,

Was the dreamer of the India in which we live today,

Freedom, he wanted India gets,

To the nation he begets;

So that was how independence we achieved….
