I Sang A Song

I Sang A Song

I started to sing and sang a song,
Of life gone right and life gone wrong.
The beat kept running through my head,
Everything I've ever did, I wrote it down and sang of it,
I sang a song of losing hope,
Of being broke and trying to cope,
Going beyond all measure and scope,
The song I wrote struck every note,
Of every scale that man's ever known,
The bittersweet melody played and swayed,
And even though it had no name,
The song I sang hit every octave,
Of every decibel man ever made,
I sang a song of utter sadness,
bitter with regrets, Lonely nights of madness,
Singing to myself, I sang song of lovers and friends,
A song so long it had no end, Or if it did it began again,
That might have happened I can't tell which,
Then I sang of peace and happiness,
A song of stars on which to wish,
Of lovely lips on which to kiss,
I sang a song of merriment,
Of futures past that came and went,
The song that I sang sounded something like this,
I sang a song a hundred proof,
The wisdom of age and the folly of youth,
See I sang of lies and I sang of truth,
I sang just to sing but what's the use,
Yes this is the song I sing and I sang,
Continually playing to this very day...
