Fibres
Fibres
Like most of the things on Earth
Fibres also bear their origin to two types of birth.
viz Natural and Synthetic
As the name goes natural fibres are from natural sources
Jute, Silk, Linen, Hemp, Cashmere,Cotton,Wool from plant and animal sources.
Necessity is the mother of all invention
Man made artificial fibres to keep pace with his evolution.
Synthetic is the name given to these fibres
The qualities that they possess far outweigh than those of natural fibres.
Polyster, Nylon,Acrylic,Olefin,Spandex,Teflon
Durability, tensile strength, affordability are the properties they have in aplomb.
Synthetic Fibres consist many small repeating units known as monomers
Many monomers combine to form large single units called polymers.
Process combining small monomers to form a polymer is polymerization
Discovered in 1907, it was Leo Baekeland’s invention.
Semi Synthetic Fibres are a hybrid version
Derived from some naturally occurring fibres through chemical amalgamation.
Rayon,Viscose,Lyocell,Cupro and Modal are some examples
The process yielding fabrics from these fibres is also simple.
Both Natural and Synthetic fibres have their pros and cons
But in the end, it all narrows down to one thing,” PURPOSE”
If you want clothes for summer natural fibres should be your pick
If you want clothes for winter then synthetic fibres should be your click
But if you want to save nature and live healthy
The Natural Fibres, especially the reused and recycled ones should be your tick!
