Deluge in a city
The monsoon breeze strikes,
And the dark clouds gather.
The skies burst instantly and wrecks,
Ordinary lives to tatters.
The rains pour for hours,
And the rising water stalls,
The steel traffic of cars.
“Where are my greens?” Nature calls.
Deluge in a city.
The flustered faces speak,
“This is Development. What a pity!
Now wait for a week.”
Wait, for the rains to stop.
Wait, for the waters to recede.
Only to again hop,
In a car and proceed.
To the rushed world of report and deadlines
That’s where the cars make a beeline.
No time to float a boat,
No time to say “A Rainy Day.”
No time to buy a raincoat.
That’s the world today.
