Counting My Next Breath
Counting My Next Breath
Every puff
Every waft
Each passing Draft
Some skim shallow
Few dig deep
I keep on counting
Each of my breaths.
Floating on time
Wait for things to happen
Impatient to create
From the clay bestowed.
At Each sunrise.
Sunsets to vacant Space within
For breath to fill in.
Thank whom?
Who assures the Next Breath!
In a Form besides by bed
To assist me to avoid anoxic sleep
To see next Sunrise.
Try sleep!
Counting each breath pushed in.
Face gripped fast
With gentlest of a mask
Straps crossed over
For breath not to leak
Nor the form to squeak.
To hold it all tight
To get my next breath in.
No fight no struggle.
Sink and surrender
To this help kind.
One more breath to count
To awaken to a new sunrise
To sink in next Sunset.
