Chess
Chess
Chess they say,
Is a great game anyway.
The gallantry of the rooks,
And the chivalry of the knights,
The plotting amongst the woodworks,
And a board full of crooks.
Chess they say,
Is a great advocate of feminism.
How else, explain we may,
The Queen fighting in the thick of battle,
Whilst the King dozes in his castle.
Chess they say,
Is a democrat's delight.
A knight here can put a King to flight,
The pawn can rise to power,
Whilst the Bishop be pulled down from his tower.
Chess,
Rewards the man
Who has a plan,
Just as life favours the thinking mind,
Caution! Action! Both in a blind!
When finally, the game is over,
The Vanquished and Victor,
Return to the same wooden box with neither whimper nor roar,
The end always equalizes the score!
