Band-Aid
Band-Aid
There's been this band-aid on my knee
It's been there far too long
It's hidden for you to see
To fool you into thinking that I am strong
There's been this band-aid on my knee
I remember the day I put it on
It stopped the blood from pouring out
Fooling me that the pain was gone
There's been this band-aid on my knee
It's worn out and crinkly now
Curling up with accumulated dirt
Attention seeking ugly threads screaming loud
There's been a band-aid on my knee
Clinging to warted skin
Battling every bit of sun and air
That attempts to reach in
There's been this band-aid on my knee
I liked feeling it there
I pretended it protected me
With loving familiar care
There's been this band-aid on my knee
Look now, it's gone
It leaves behind a lighter patch, jerking off a miniscule stinging whip
But the wound has healed and so; it's clearly time to move on
