An Uninvited Guest

An Uninvited Guest

It struck so quickly

The chill of solitude gone heinously wrong,

So swift and deadly, I could only utter a rueful sigh,

"It's that time of year again.. "

It knocked on my door, an uninvited guest,

With the masked visage of a comforting traveller,

Slowly penetrating my mind,

And again I sighed,

It dawned upon me, then

That the traveller was naught but an old acquaintance, who'd returned to check on me

"Oh, it's you again, " I said, and then asked

"Why so soon... "

Hearing this, the traveller smiled,

"Why must you run from your troubles,"

"Why must you cast away the proclivity of your existence so easily? "

'You must understand, " the traveller said, "if no one's there for you, I certainly am.. "

Hearing this I wasn't shocked,

Nor did I feel any emotion at the whispers of this traveller, for I had accepted my Providence

I knew now that at all ends, there is always this

And the whispers of my demons engulfed me,

I felt the frosted hooks tug on me once more,

And finally I realised.. this time my hospitality wouldn't matter anyhow

This time Depression meant to stay...
