Always By My Side

Ever since the time I was a child,

I had a true friend always by my side.

This tree holds a special place in my heart,

What do I say? Where do I start?

Helped me play in my growing years,

Let me hide when I was in tears.

I used to scream and shout in glee,

While I sat on the swing hanging on my tree.

I loved to play hide and seek,

Jumping on the branches until they creaked.

Plucking the fruits as they grew,

Enjoying the summer wind as it blew..

My friends and I spent the entire day,

Sitting on the branches and yapping away.

Rains and nights were hated by me,

As they kept me away from my tree.

Years flew by and as I grew up,

Relationships happened and then broke up.

Nobody else has ever stood by me,

The way I have always found this tree to be...

Wish I had arms so big and wide,

To hug this tree which has always been by my side.
