A Serious Matter

There's a man in the mirror

He doesn't want to look at me

Unless I look at him first

He doesn't want to smile at me

Unless I smile at him first

And if I am sullen someday

He gives it back to me.

And if I fail to notice him

He makes sure not to notice me either

It has always been like this with him

I don't know what's his problem

Or, is it his attitude?

Or, is he sick?

Or, does he need medical attention?

But surely, something serious is the matter with him.
