Thunder and lightning were all I could see outside my bedroom window. It was quite early in the morning, around three o’clock and I could not get any sleep. I had no dreams that night. But then I imagined a funny thought: what if I entered an iPhone? What if I could walk inside the walls of a tiny screen, which has become a very essential thing in our daily lives? It would be amazing. I got engrossed in the thought, and fell down on my bed, thinking of it. I woke up around 3:15 and looked around me and to my surprise, huge ocean waves were all I could see. “It must be the wallpaper”, I thought. I got up from the so called “ground” and kept walking. On the way, I saw many tiny, square-shaped boxes, which I assumed were the apps. I kept walking straight, but at one point I hit my head on the imaginary wall at the end. It seemed that there were no more apps on the next page. I had hit my head hard and so I felt dizzy. I looked at four levels above me. “Doctor Dinkles” was the apps name. I kept jumping up, in a hope that I might enter the app. But it was too high to reach, for a person as short as me. Then a light bulb flashed in my mind. If you want to move from one rock to another, you jump, so that meant that if you wanted to move from one app to another you had to do the same, or at least that was what I thought.

So, I jumped up to the app closest to the ground- music tiles. As I entered the app, I looked below me. It was a button, to play the song and so I jumped on it. If I finished the game, I would be at the finish, which I assumed was the way to get to the next game. I was super confident, as I had the game on my mother’s iPhone and I was pretty good at it. Three, two, one... go! The game had started and I could feel the vibrations on the ground. But I kept jumping from one tile to another. I appeared to be playing Fur Elise. It was quite easy for me, and so I was successful. I reached the ending and saw a small opening. I peered out and saw that it was another app, though I could not recognise it.

I carefully jumped the distance and reached the other app. This time again, I seemed to be in a game I enjoyed playing a lot - fruit ninja. I was pretty good at this game as well. I sliced the “arcade” fruit with my foot, and entered the game. Swash, creak, bang! Fruits were dropping all around me, and I found it quite difficult to slice with my foot. It was much easier with just one finger. I sliced as much as I could and scored four hundred and sixty-five points. It was nothing compared to the points I got on my mother’s phone. I went towards the opening at the end, and this time it was at the top, which meant I was at the second level of the page from bottom. Only two more levels to go. I jumped to the next game, full of excitement. But this time, it was a game I was pretty bad at- candy crush. The name made me dizzy, for I was used to the games I played on my mom’s phone.

The area was shrouded with candies of different colours. I jumped up and down on the play button, and at last the game started. The target was to pop all the bubbles that had surrounded the candies; but there was one problem- the candies had been surrounded with bubbles three times! How on earth would I get them all out, with only twenty-eight moves! I had no clue what to do, so I kept moving candies around and popping them. Twenty-six, twenty-five, twenty-four, the moves were coming down, and till now I had popped only one bubble out of twenty-five! But then, when I was on the red, jelly-like candy something weird happened- the entire phone started vibrating, probably indicating a phone call. The ringing did not stop for nearly two minutes, and I was carefully standing still on the red candy, hoping not to fall down. When the ringing did stop however, all the candies dropped down and the game was qualified as a success! The phone call had really helped me.

I then went towards the small opening at the end, but something suddenly struck my mind. Why was I heading towards doctor Dinkles? I then remembered that I had got hurt on my head, but by that time the pain was completely gone. I felt very stupid, for I had gone through all those apps to reach a app which I did not want to go to. Anyways, I came out of the phone looking side-to-side for an interesting app. “WhatsApp” and “Facebook” were the two apps respectively to the right and left of me. I had no interest in both the apps, so I just decided to jump down. But the distance was too big to jump from the third level of the page, from the bottom (meaning second level from the top). Also, I could not jump from app to app this time, because you can’t go from the finish to the start, right? I was stuck on candy crush for quite some time, thinking of a way to reach the floor. It had been around ten minutes, and I realised that the area around me was slowly beginning to get darker and darker, each second. The only possible explanation was that someone had switched off the phone, and the only way to switch it back again was to press and hold the left side button. I was just an app away from it, and this time I got a clever idea. “Why did I ever enter the game to cross it?”. I could have just directly jumped from app to app from the top. That seemed quite clever to me, and the very thought made me feel even more stupid.

The light was very dim and I was not able to see quite clearly. But luckily, I had very good eyesight. Then I jumped from “candy crush” to “Facebook”. Bending a little closer, I was able to reach the small button, with just a tiny finger as it was mostly on the outside of the iPhone. Only a very small bit was reachable from the inside. I pressed the button for a long time, and then released my hold. Abruptly, a huge apple symbol appeared below me. The phone was switching on again! I was so relieved. All the darkness around me slowly began to fade away, to reveal a bright light. But just as I was celebrating my cleverness, something else happened which I would not have noticed, had I not reached the floor. Beep, beep, BEEP! Oh no! The phone was almost completely out of charge.

If the phone was out of charge, what would happen to me? Would I get SUCKED into the phone? The very thought made me shiver. I looked around me for clues, but nothing appeared this time. I then decided to walk backwards to the front page, carefully so that I would not bump my head again, hoping to find a way to escape the phone. When I reached, I looked above me to see something unusual: a beam of light falling straight on my face. I felt like I was on the floor of the iPhone, and to my surprise I was back in my bedroom! I then realised that I had been dreaming that entire, rainy night. In the morning however, all the rain and thunder had disappeared, and sunshine was all I could see. “What an amazing thing to dream about!”, I thought.

My mother then came in, and calling me for breakfast, wished me a happy “good morning”. I eagerly told her about my dream, and then she said, “Oh how you children dream about such funny, impossible things! Creative young minds you all are!”. Anyways, that was my experience of dreaming about virtual reality where I entered an iPhone. Who knows though, maybe one day it actually might just come true! My mother laughed and said,” Maybe one day child; anything’s possible!”.
