If I Don't Wake Up Tomorrow

Last night

After having my meal

And chit-chat with my mom and dad

About how my life should look like in real and reel.

Last night

When I went to my bed to sleep

My body was tired as I was feeling so weak

So weak, to even call someone in case I die

And for once the thought came

What if I really die

In midnight.

What if I never wake up tomorrow

And what if no one comes to wake me up either

Because I wake up late every day.

My train of thoughts started moving

Along with the hands of the clock.

I thought about my mom

Who just gave me a head massage

And then went to her room, saying good night.

And then my dad

Who was telling me stories of Raja-Rani.

Even though I am twenty-one

I have a thing with stories.

My brother

Who is coming to meet me this Sunday

And my bhabhi sahab

And her child inside.

My grandparents

Whom I have promised to visit this Summer.

And then this guy

Who is just my type

And promised me to give me my letter this week.

And all my cousins

Whom I haven’t met

Since the start of our high school education weather.

My best friends – number one, tow, three and maybe four

Met two, but need to meet the other two

The one with whom I haven’t talked for days

As she was getting into my personal bubble

But every day passed fighting and distinguishing between

Guilt and my space.

My school friends with whom I have shared

The Golden Days of My Life

As said by Mrs. Angelina, my ninth standard teacher

Who was supposed to teach us the significance of Human Rights.

My hostel friends

Who has listened to all my stories of celebrations and sorrows.

My roommate and ex-roommate

To whom I never showed all my sides.

And all my classmates

To whom I met this semester.

And how I never told some people

That they were my daily inspiration.

This girl who taught me how to focus

And distinguish between your dreams and distractions.

A guy

Short in height

But fuck the damn world

Because his dreams make his life bright.

A guy

Too Quiet

But tells me every day

What love feels like.

A girl

Whom everyone teases

Moti, bhaisi

And for her way of talking

But again, fuck the world

Because she has the confidence to speak anywhere.

Oh! How I forgot about my neighbour Mr. Tiwari

To whom I say Namaste

Everyday.

And then my friends near my house

None of them are of my age

But the best to remember.

The strangers I have met so far

Each one has given me their life’s part.

My twenty-four unread books in my bookshelf

And the millions that are waiting for me to be read.

My dreams of different lifestyle

And my thoughts of adding value to each and every life.

I thought about all the small things

Engraved deeply in my heart

And writing my routine,

Added to this summer plan.

What would have happen if I die

Who will design the aircraft,

That I have always dreamt to fly?

My so many unwritten poems

Buried in my mind

How I wished to pour my thoughts on paper

But played PUBG all night.

But not to repeat my mistakes

Let me write all the poems

Because this is the day.
