Village suits me but I can't leave the city

Village suits me but I can't leave the city

Dear diary,

I walked a long way to reach this city in the hope that it will enlighten my life but when I reached here I felted that there were no stars in the sky. Thankfully the sky remains alive but unlike the sky in my village, it has no color. My friend who works with me for the municipal corporation told me that the sky of my unprivileged village looks blue because there are no factories there. Now I understand why the government wanted me to surrender part of my land to the bade sahib of the city who promised to change the picture of the whole village. Bade Sahib just wanted to change the color of the sky and nothing more.

With the help of many policies and treaties, my land was saved from the Bade Sahib of the city but at last, I sold it to the village headman when after 2 years of continuous drought, I had to feed my family. I came here, struggled for months, and finally got a job under a government scheme. I earn less but I can send some money to my family in the village.

My wife now works on my land which is owned by the village headman. My son wants to come to the city and contribute to the family income but I want him to study. My daughter has her birthday next week; she wants to see me with a gift. Hopefully, if I get the call from the manager of the mall to clean the septic tank, I will buy a book, or dress, or a doll. I just pray I don't die inside the septic tank.
