10-year-old Clary Ross was staying at her grandparent’s house for her summer holidays. she was really excited as her grandparent’s house was right in the middle of a forest. Her grandpa had promised to take her exploring. She could not wait to go there. On her last day of school, she quickly climbed the bus to grandpa’s house. She was to go directly there as her parents had already gone for their business trip. She reached at the bus stop, where her grandpa was standing. He hugged her and took her home. As soon as they reached her grandparents’ house, she went to the kitchen and hugged her grandma. Her grandma has woken up early and got ready to prepared Clary’s favorite food. They sat down and ate dinner.
Then Clary went to sleep at a cozy place which she and her grandpa had built when she was young. Next day early in the morning she woke up and bathed and then went down for breakfast. Her grandpa asked her, “what are you going to do today?” Clary responded, “I don’t know.” Her grandpa said, “if you are free then why don’t you help me clean the attic. There is a lot of interesting stuff which I am sure you will like.” Clary agreed. So, they both went to the attic. While cleaning she found an old box and opened it. Inside there was a map and a locket. She asked her grandpa, ‘grandpa, what is it?’ her grandpa responded, ‘it is a map of the treasure which is a ruby left by our ancestors, but nobody has been able to reach the ruby as it is in a cave guarded by a generation of lions. When one dies the other takes the responsibility to guard the cave. Though many have tried and failed. Though only one of them managed to get a piece of a hair out of one of the lions.
This locket belongs to my great-great-great-great-great grandfather. He said that this was the key to finding the ruby, but nobody knew what to do with it.” Clary was amazed by this piece of information. She decided to sneak out of the house at night to find the ruby. So, when her grandpa was not looking, she quickly pocketed the locket and the map. She was not sure why she took her locket but her instincts told her to do so. That night, after everyone was asleep, she climbed out of her window into the forest. She looked at the map and saw that she had to go to the river her grandpa had once taken her to. She had packed some food in case she felt hungry. She reached the river after 2 hours. She was tired of walking, so she started eating some of the packed food. After the rest, she decided to go to the cave where the ruby was. She reached the cave and went inside.
There came a roar from the darkness. And then a voice said, “who dares to come to my cave?” Clary shivered with nervousness, but she stepped forward and replied, “I am Clary Ross. I have come here to retrieve my family’s ruby. The lion laughed and said, “for that you will have to give me something as precious as the ruby. Clary thought that what could she do. She didn’t have anything as expensive. She thought about what her grandpa had said about the locket was the key. Then she remembered that one of her ancestors had taken out the lion’s ancestor’s hair. She thought that the hair might be in that locket. So, she opened it and she was right. The hair lay in the locket. She presented the hair to the lion and said, “O lion king, I present before you the hair of your ancestor, in hope that in exchange that you will give me the ruby.” The lion king smiled and said, “very well, you can take the ruby. Here you go. It was nice meeting you Clary Ross. Clary smiled. Her family would be proud
