Once there were to miser thieves in a village. They had met each other in a village fair catching each other robbing some or the other thing. They did a deal and became friends.

They planned to rob the king that night. There was a big tree in front of the palace. The first thieve said "I will climb up the tree and drop a coin if it would be safe. Then you'll come up and we will get in the palace ." The thieve climbed the tree. He thought it is safe from the top so he dropped a coin and waited for the second thieve. He waited for a while but the second thief didn't show up. He waited for an hour but there was no response. Hours and hours went by whereas the thief didn't come up so the first thief decided to show up. He thought it was enough waiting and came down.

While the first thief was coming down he jumped from the tree and broke his leg. He shouted aloud. Hearing the shout the second thief got away. The second thief was nowhere to be seen. By the time the guards showed up. The next day he was offered in the court in front of the king. The king was wise and clever. He knew that the thief would although give an excuse and might leave. The king said that he should be forgiven and should be given work in the palace so he was appointed as the royal jewelry guard. He was given 3 hours to meet at the post.

In the three hours, he decided to meet his old cunning friend. When he met his friend he said why wasn't he on the top. The miser thief replied that he was searching for the coin that he had dropped. The first thief said in distress and anger that he had dropped the coin tied it to the rope and pulled it up.

By that, the first thief had another plan. He said the second to be at the royal treasury that night. The night arose and the second thief was ready. He somehow got in and went to the royal treasury. There he met the first thief and decided to open the door and rob something and run away. With the movement, the first thief opened the door. In his distress, he found another two guards along with the king.

The king said he didn't have faith in the thief so he planned to catch him bare-handed. The king added that if he had tried to punish him in the morning he would easily leave as they didn't have any points to prove him the thief.

IN THE END, BOTH THE THIEVES WERE PUNISHED BY THE CLEVER KING.
