The Story Of It

There was a kid named Harsh and he was a short and thin and a naughty boy and always used to play. One day, when Harsh was getting ready for school, his father switched on the T.V and started watching the news, as all fathers do in the morning. It was 7:52 A.M, he ran out of his room to get into his school bus when his dad was shrieking like a banshee and Harsh gave a sudden brake to his legs and asked, ‘Dad what’s wrong?’ His dad said, ‘some of the people are suffering with a virus!’, and Harsh said ‘Just like our common cold. Dad, relax they will get cured’ and he went to the school bus.

In the bus, he went to his friends to chat with them, but to his disappointment, his friends were also talking about the same virus which his father told about previously. He thought ‘is this virus so dangerous that it is worth talking about and taking precautions?’ when suddenly one of his friends prompted that this is a virus which can kill millions, or even billions of people if proper precautions are not taken. Harsh, who never thinks too much about anything, now was in a dilemma, he thought ‘what if I don’t take any precautions? What if?’ when his friend interrupted his thoughts by saying that if anyone is suffering with cold, cough, fever, sore throat, throat pain and chest congestion, they should immediately go to a doctor and get tested for this virus. Now Harsh thought ‘what if my neighbor has this virus, she has cold and cough, what if these symptoms were passed on from her to our family?’ and shivered for a second.

Now Harsh got curious about this new virus that was creating a havoc and asked one of his friends ‘how can this virus be stopped? I don’t want to stop playing’. His friend said that this virus can be stopped only if we wear a mask every time and if we wash our hands frequently and maintain a social distance of two meters. Now Harsh was freaking out when another friend of his looking at his mobile phone, blurted out excitedly ‘yay! We are having a holiday today.’

As Harsh reached his home his father was still watching the news about this virus, now even his mother joined in watching the news, Harsh asked ‘Dad what is the name of this virus? My friends were talking about this virus, too!’ His dad said that its name is Coronavirus or COVID-19, and said that everyone must take precautions. Now Harsh went to sleep thinking about the virus and thought that this virus can be contained if all the people in the world joined together in the fight against COVID-19 and took a pledge that he would take all the necessary precautions his friends talked about in the school bus.
