The Magical Umbrella

There was a village called Jugnu Para.
In that village lived a poor family. They had a little boy named Imran. The family was so poor that they could hardly afford two meals a day. Imran used to go to school, but during the rainy season, he often got wet because his parents could not afford to buy him an umbrella.

One day, while he was returning from school, it suddenly started raining heavily. Imran quickly climbed up a fence near a tree to take shelter. He was also very hungry. He opened his lunchbox and found that it only contained two pieces of bread and half an onion. As he started eating, he noticed an old saint (fakir) standing under the tree, staring at him.

Imran asked politely,
“Father, would you like to eat something?”

The saint replied,
“If you could share a little, I would be very happy.”

Imran said,
“I don’t have much, only this half onion.”

The saint smiled and said,
“Then give me that.”

Imran offered it to him. The saint ate it and, before leaving, gave Imran a magical umbrella as a gift.

Imran took the umbrella and happily went home. On his way back, he discovered its magic. When he opened the umbrella, children without umbrellas were all invited to come under it. Amazingly, the umbrella grew larger and larger, enough to shelter many people.

Soon, the whole village came under that umbrella, and it kept expanding until it covered everyone. The villagers were astonished. Their village chief advised:
“Throw this umbrella over the entire village, and then all of us will be saved from the floodwaters.”

They followed his advice, and the umbrella magically spread over the whole village. Thus, all the people were protected from the flood.

From that day on, the boy Imran and his parents lived a happy and safe life, protected by the magical umbrella.
