The Journey To Earth

A long time ago, in the year 1945, when USA dropped atomic bombs over the cities of Hiroshima & Nagasaki, beneath the earth‟s surface, the organisms which the humans had nomenclatured as tape worms, existed. Due to the effect of those atomic bombs, certain changes started taking place inside their bodies and an entirely new breed of creatures was formed, who called themselves Necturus. The creatures of this breed were unable to live in the soil of the Earth and were killed by humans whenever seen. They found their survival difficult on Earth and thus decided to leave the planet and find another planet where they could live their life peacefully. With utmost caution, two of them got into a human space shuttle, which landed on Mars, and the creatures started their new life over there. They reproduced, and soon a colony of Necturus was formed. It‟s been over a century and Necturuses still continue their life on Mars, not knowing anything about the other planet where life existed and from where their ancestors came. They had seen the rockets launched by the Earth a numerous times but whenever someone had got too near, he/she had died due to the powerful rays emitted from the rocket. So the King,  thinking that it was a dangerous thing, had alerted the whole of the community not to go near it. 

Once , Remy, a 2-year-old Necturus went on an outing with his school friends, when he saw a huge gigantic hand, coming out from a rocket. Remy and all the other students of that school had also been warned not to go near it, but Remy could not contain his curiosity. “What can it do? It‟s just a machine.” Remy said “No! Wait! Don‟t go! My uncle was killed under this machine!” said one of Remy‟s friends. “Huh! Then he must have been careless.” And with this he went towards the rocket and started examining it. “Whoa! It‟s wonderful! And look at its….Aaah! The machine had got hold of him. It pulled him inside and he vanished from everyone‟s eyes. He was being pulled by the gigantic hand and was thrown in a dark room. He waited over there, thinking that some Necturus would come into the room and find Remy over there and let him out. But it didn‟t happen. He kept waiting for around 4 to 5 days, but for Remy it seemed like 4 to 5 years. At last, almost after a week, the door opened and without waiting for anything, he got out. Remy had expected to see several Necturuses like himself over there but what he saw was way beyond his imagination. 

There were different types of Necturuses over there. Many of them were almost same, except for their color, size and shape. But others were totally different. Some walked on 2 legs while others walked on 4 legs. There were also many buildings which were almost 5 times the size of Remy‟s home. Very few buildings were green and bushy on the top. “These Necturuses are so much different from me. I wonder if they speak my language,” he said to himself. But no, their language was not at all like Remy‟s and poor old Remy had no one to talk to. One day, miserable and hungry, he was walking around in search of some food, when one Necturus, which he had seen first, saw him and started shouting. Hearing his shout, several other Necturuses, of the same type, gathered around him. He felt happy that now those Necturuses would understand his problem and give him food. “I am feeling very hungry. Can you give me some food?” he called out using his hands to elaborate. But instead, they all started throwing things at him and he ran for his life.

Meanwhile on Mars, Remy‟s parents were informed about Remy being kidnapped and they went to the King for help. After about a month, when another such rocket was seen, a space ship with a specialized team was sent to follow it and bring  Remy back. The rocket landed on another planet whose two- third of area was covered with water. They were all shocked to know that life existed on another planet apart from their own and it was this planet that sends those rockets. Since they weren‟t sure where to find Remy, they decided to look around the place where it had landed. Four small teams, each consisting of 4-5 Necturuses, were sent to search for him and after about 3 days, the third team came back with Remy. All the teams were summoned back and they went back on Mars. On reaching there, Remy‟s parents ran towards him and hugged him tightly. “When will you learn to do as you are told?” said his father. Remy was called by the King who congratulated him on surviving for so long and asked, “Will you share with us what you saw over there?” 

Remy told them all about the different type of Necturuses, their languages and their way of living. When he finished and looked at everyone, he was shocked to see the look at everyone‟s face. “So, what you basically did over there is creating a story. You will become a nice author son.” said the King and with this Remy was left with no one trusting his story.
