                             Chapter one

Four children were sitting on a sofa, wondering what to do. The whole vacation till now, they had nothing to do. Minnie, a girl named Christie's cat broke the silence by meowing loudly. A boy named peter looked at the cat and said "These holidays are going by without even the smell of an adventure".

The others nodded. "I wish something real happened this time" said a girl whose name was Beth short for Elizabeth "You mean a real adventure?" Christie asked "That would be cool!". Beth nodded and said "Nothing real has ever happened before". It was becoming late in the night so they went to bed.

The next morning a boy named David woke up first and then woke Peter up. Both the boys woke the girls up. All four children went down to eat breakfast-soup, salad, sandwiches, peaches and jugs of creamy milk.

After breakfast, Beth shouted "Mother, where are you? Mother!" "Yes dear", her mother replied "Coming". Her mother rushed in. "Should we start packing?" Beth asked, "Yes" her mother replied. Her mother had just told them in the morning that they would be going to Spain. Finally, they wouldn't be bored.

They rushed upstairs and started packing. By 2:00 pm they were done packing and were piling up in the car. Their mother and father called bye and they were off! Off to Spain! All four children and Minnie loved to travel and meet new people from all over the world. After 40 minutes they were seated on the airplane. They were all very excited to reach Spain.

Christie was reading the guidebook; Peter was looking out of the window and Beth and David were playing snakes and ladders. "We are going to Spain, right? Christie asked. "Yeah" answered David. “Are we going to Cordoba? Christie asked again. “Yes” Peter answered. "Well first thing we'll visit Alhambra, a sprawling fortress “Christie said.

                                             Chapter- 2

"Okay “said David "Who wants to play snap?" "Me” everyone shouted. Minnie who was asleep woke up with a jump. After 25 minutes, the plane reached Cordoba. The four children hailed a taxi and soon reached the hotel. All of them had to share a very big room. It had two bunk beds, one for the boys and one for the girls. There were four small tables, chairs and a rack beside each table. A newspaper lay on the rack. The children, curious, started to read it. According to the newspaper a few days ago a man had gone missing and there was no sight of him.

The smell of an adventure was in the air. All four of them agreed to go to the beach. They wanted some fresh air. They were enjoying the beach when it suddenly started raining. They decided to look for shelter and found a cave. They hurried into the dark cave.

Luckily for them, David had a flashlight. It started to pour even more heavily and some of the water started flowing into the cave, so they hurried forward. After some time, they reached a narrow passage and halted. All of them had to crawl through the passage and finally at the end it became wider and led to a door.

The door was bolted. Peter unbolted the door and pushed it open. To their surprise, there was a man tied up to a chair. A gag was put in his mouth which stopped him from speaking. When he saw the children, he started to struggle. The children rushed forward to help him. They untied him and took the gag out of his mouth. The children then asked him what had happened to him.

The man told them that he was working for the government to do some important work and the men wanted to steal his work.

                                                         Chapter-3

Then the men appeared a few days back to his house and threatened to kidnap him and blast his house unless he gave the papers. When he refused, they kidnapped him. Luckily, he had hid the papers somewhere even the government didn’t know. The children listened to everything he said. “We must go back now, or we may be caught” Peter said. They had just opened the door when they suddenly heard footsteps.

Beth being smallest and youngest slipped out without warning the others and bolted the door then, she hid in another tunnel leading the other side. Inside, the three children assumed Beth was hiding and tied the man back loosely and put the gag in his mouth again. Then they hid in the cave. None of them had noticed the door was bolted. The man whose footsteps they had heard earlier opened the door. He had black hair, blue eyes and was wearing a blue shirt and a white pant. He made sure the man was still tied up, bolted the door and went away.

The children made sure he was out of earshot and came out of their hiding places. Only then, did they realize Beth was missing. Then they heard somebody pull back the bolt. They froze where they stood. The door opened and Beth came inside. “Let’s go” she whispered. One by one they slipped out of the door, crawled through the passage and went through the cave. In no time they were all in the hotel. Luckily for them it had stopped raining.

Upon reaching the hotel, they called the police. The police came and asked them what had happened. They narrated the whole story after they were done the man who the children had saved went with the police. After a few days they learnt the police had arrested the men, they enjoyed the rest of their holidays roaming around Spain. They also visited the Alhambra and even visited the other cities, like Co
