Symbol Of Love
Symbol Of Love
The first day of school buzzed with laughter, restless footsteps, and the songs of birds welcoming a new beginning. While most students searched for classrooms, Sharvya wandered into the playground. She had always believed that the quickest way to know a place was through its trees and flowers.
Amid the blooming garden stood a frail sapling in the far corner—forgotten, thirsty, almost swallowed by the soil.
Without hesitation, she fetched water and gently poured it around its roots.
From a distance, Kartik watched silently.
He had planted that sapling months ago, seeing in it a reflection of himself—standing alone, surviving without expecting care. Watching someone nurture it unsettled him. If the sapling could change, perhaps the life he had accepted wasn't as unchangeable as he believed.
Back in class, Sharvya found the only empty seat beside him.
"I saw your sapling," she smiled. "Some things don't grow because they are left waiting. They grow because someone chooses to care."
Kartik lowered his eyes.
"Not everyone gets someone," he replied softly.
"Maybe," she said, "but sometimes they arrive when you've stopped looking."
Days became months.
She continued watering the little sapling, while unnoticed, she watered the parts of Kartik that had long forgotten hope. The sapling stretched toward the sun; Kartik slowly opened his guarded heart. Seasons changed, leaves grew, and so did a bond that never needed grand confessions.
Years later, the playground had changed, but the tree still stood tall.
To everyone else, it was just another tree.
To Sharvya and Kartik, it was proof that love, like a tree, doesn't bloom because it is planted—it blooms because someone chooses to nurture it.
