Ansh was aimlessly wandering around the village. He was ten-year-old and had never stepped out of the village boundaries on his own. As he reached near the edge of the village, he saw a tree laden with fruit. He did not know the name of the fruit, but seeing them he knew they must be some kind of nuts. His mouth watered at the thought of eating them.

Although it was another village, he was not afraid of entering into that village. The tree was on the side of the path and perhaps did not belong to any individual. It was on public land so he had no qualms of eating the fruit of the tree.

He walked up to the tree and stood under its shade as if seeking the tree’s permission to eat its fruit. After a bit of prevarication, he started climbing the tree. The fruit was high up in the tree and there was quite a bit of climb for reaching the place from where he could pluck the fruit easily.

The trunk of the tree was thick and long, he decided to rest his limbs for a while. As he was resting on the trunk of the tree, he looked up to gauge the extent of climb. To his astonishment, he saw that there were many squirrels on the branches of tree eating fruit. For a moment he was scared. He was wondering if those squirrels would attack him.

Ansh had always felt proud of the fact that he was quite tall for a ten-year-old. He decided that those squirrels were so small, they could not harm him. After resting a while, he continued the climb.

As he reached the branch where he could pluck fruit, he looked for the squirrels. Miraculously, there were no squirrels on that branch. He looked around and saw that they had shifted to nearby branches. He had his fill of fruit and climbed down. He was thankful to the squirrels that they had willingly shared fruit with him.

He climbed down the tree. He looked around, luckily no one had noticed him. He retraced his steps back to his village. He suddenly felt grown-up, even his way of walking had changed. He walked with confidence.
