Self-Love

Self-Love

I see you every day. Every passing day, I see another flaw in you. I see a tiny glitch, which you've been trying to hide from this world, more importantly, from your own self. How many layers of makeup will prove it to you? Or maybe those extra 30 minutes at the gym is what you need? Maybe you shouldn't have gobbled up that piece of cake or maybe that face mask is just the right for you! your gallery screams of all those quotes which have been trying to tell you that there is nothing as important as "Loving Thyself". You post statuses, you put captions, you lecture your friends. Shouldn't you, by now be the epitome of self-love?

Well, only if they knew how to reflect in the mirror hurts you the most.

Nobody knew it better than you about how self-love is a revolutionary idea, the one that is supposed to change everything. "Someone else will only love you if you start treating yourself right". Don't you read it all the time?

But here you are, cursing yourself for that extra slice of pizzas you ate days back. and now, you are starving. Maybe just for validation, of yourself, and not just others. Is that solo trip going to help you? Or maybe it's just another gimmick you are selling to yourself. Because the hot water bath with different bath salts didn't help, nor did coloring your hair red, and not even those books that lay at a corner telling you how you can turn your life.

The voids in the corners of your heart aren't that easy to fill. And maybe you aren't wrong. Self-love is something that doesn't come in so easily. Maybe it's a path of long discovery learning. Those quotes you have been stacking up in your gallery aren't an overnight miracle. So don't take it too hard on yourself if your reflection in the mirror shows you all the things you want to change. Loving others is easy and always written about. Truth is, the hardest person to love is yourself, it is, and it'll always be. It's something that slowly grows on to you. And how you wish, that it grew faster.
