To Selena Quintanilla-Perez,

Forgive me for not knowing you earlier. But the moment I saw you dance and rock the stage in your iconic purple jumpsuit made my heart go bidi bidi bom bom.

And it was obvious to for me to fall in love with you, because its not just your dance moves, twirls, stage portrayal or your smile and beauty but it was you who I admired and adored from that instance.

Starting to display your musical abilities at the tender age of six, to breaking through the gender and cultural stereotypes you excelled and slayed the male-dominated industry back in the 90s.

And through several record-breaking concerts and albums, you swiftly swept a number of awards and a Grammy which then opened many opportunities for you and the band.

But the world stopped on 31st March 1995, and life was unfair because it had to end that way.

Yet you captivated the world with your beautiful smile, soothing voice, vibrant laugh and humble character. You were an idol, not only to the Latin community but also to millions of people around the world including me.

Today, even after 25 years you continue to inspire us all. Because these words- "If you've a dream don't let anybody take it away. And you always believe that the impossible is always possible" has left a strong imprint on me and other 7 billion people in the universe.

Jlo says, "Selena really touched people". Well yes you did, you still do and always will.

Now with a fond adieu, I want to say that we will always dream of you.

PS: We still miss "How you doing Houston, Texas?"
