Risky Drive

Risky Drive

Left at around 6 am and it was pitch dark outside, with very few people on the streets. There were two inches of snow outside. The bus shelters wore a forlorn look. A few workers huddled together waiting for their buses to arrive.

We were out that early to make it to the Niagara Falls, a six-hour drive from Montreal. The roads were clear so we drove at a lick, little realizing we had forgotten to take our driving license. A serious lapse on our part but it was too late to turn back. Moreover, it would have meant missing out on seeing one of the seven wonders of the world...The Niagara Falls from the Canadian side.

To make matters worse, we were unable to reach our friend in Montreal requesting him to send a photocopy of the license to our hotel where we were booked in Niagara. Praying all the way, we exercised caution in not violating any traffic rules. As a result, the drive took more than six hours. The beautiful scenery along the shored of Lake Superior, compensated for our worries and once we reached the falls, it was worth the risk we took.

Took the elevator to the lowest level closest to the fall and got soaked to the skin with the water spray. It was exhilarating to witness and feel so close to this place on our bucket list.
