It was pouring down heavily that day as I was getting ready to visit my school which was just a two-minute walk from my house. The wall clock mounted in the hall showed 2'o clock when I called out to my mother, "Mom, I am going to the school now". "Take the umbrella with you, my dear. It's raining", I heard her reply.

With that, I silently closed the door behind me and left the house. Though my school was a very common sight for me for I would cross it almost every single day, that particular day it was a mixture of excitement and fear. As I entered the school premises, I found myself being stopped by the security guard and asked who I was. My God, that place which had been my home for almost 12 long years became a stranger to me all of a sudden!

I wasn't anticipating that, so I spoke, "Sir, I am an alumnus of this school. I have come here to meet my teachers". Only then did that Security guard allow me inside. Stumped out of that shock, I slowly progressed through the classes which reminded me of those golden old days of those French classes, benches, chalk dust, board, duster, cupboard, friends and undoubtedly every aspect of the place got me nostalgic.

Finally, as I reached the staff room, I saw most of my teachers who were either busy chatting among themselves or correcting answer sheets. As I stepped in, I was recognized by a few and to the rest, I introduced myself. I announced that I was getting married and that I wanted to invite them all. To those teachers who never took any classes for me, I had to shell out some extra invites to them as well to bridge that voidness/awkwardness.

The hardest part was bidding my bye to them, for I had to leave that place which was so distant yet closer to me and all I could manage to do was to capture those moments getting them beautifully etched on my heart!
