LIGHT IT UP

Plans would start a month before.. It actually starts with new dresses. Since it would be bought a month before, we used to open up the dress everyday and take our self to Diwali day with that awesome dress and feel so special.

Next comes the most favourite part of Diwali. CRACKERS.. We start demanding for crackers from our parents which would be too early to buy. So they give us small satisfaction by buying us a Diwali gun and cracker roll. Taking that in hand we imagine our self as James bond and keep shooting it without getting tired. As a result we would start spending so much on cracker rolls rather than buying other crackers. This would actually happen a week Diwali. Soon we get bored with the gun since the gun loses its ability due to over usage.

Two days before Diwali we start hearing noises of crackers somewhere near us, which makes us feel sad since we didn't get our crackers yet. We would satisfy our self with few single strand crackers and lighting them with smile.

And the day before Diwali, it starts drizzling and makes our mood down. For our surprise, suddenly a huge box lands in our home which would be filled with all kinds of crackers from a single strand cracker till rocket. We take that and keep in a hot place to retain its ability to fire due to bad whether. That day we go early to bed dreaming about the next day.

And then comes the big day. DIWALI. We wake up early in morning. We notice our parents and grand parents woke up even before us and making so many variety dishes and sweets. We would be compelled to have a good oil bath early in that morning. And then we move to the streets in our new dress. We find everyone looking so good and beautiful in their own way. That ambience makes our Diwali day very special. We prefer starting with Lakshmi crackers since it creates more left overs and shows off others that we did so much hard work to fire all crackers. In those days we never had any WhatsApp, YouTube or Facebook. So we were supposed to watch new movie songs only in Diwali. Simultaneously while putting crackers we run home to watch our favourite starts songs. And then come back and continue with crackers.

The list then goes on with 100 wala, 1000 wala, atom bomb, double shots, snake tablet, etc. Till the evening. Then we take some rest eating all special items and sweets made at home. When it comes to Diwali Night, the first thing which comes into our mind is sparklers which is known as Kambi mathappu in Tamil. And then the continues with flower pots, wheels, rockets, etc. All our elder family member will also join us in night and makes sure we have a safe Diwali. And then when it's too late, we notice that we have much more crackers left out without firing. As a final touch we take them all and and fire in double shots, triple shots manner to finish them all soon.

At the end of the day, with lots of disappointments that the day has come to end we go to bed. Still we always had a best Diwali which gave us lots of memories and love rather than just wishes. I wish every Diwali to be celebrated this way which has become a fantasy for today's generation..
