How Did 9 Get Her Face?

Your teacher must have told you that there is only one planet where life exists., our Mother Earth. But let me tell you this secret, I know other planets too where life exists!

Surprised, aren’t you? Put your seatbelt on, we are ready to take off to Planet Syllabary.

 

Yes, Planet Syllabary. It is the planet of and for the alphabets. So you should not be shocked when the alphabet ‘Q' greets you at the grocery store or Mr. ‘B' runs into you when you are jogging in the park.

Planet Syllabary is ruled by the Great and Mighty ‘A'. He is a wise king and everyone loves him. Our Majesty has an excellent and clever minister, the alphabet ‘C'. It is said that there is no one as witty as the alphabet ‘C'. Mr. ‘C' has a best friend, the good wizard ‘W'.He always wears a pointed hat and every time you would see him flying across the skies on his black broom.

Oh! I forgot to tell you about another planet. It is known as Planet Digi, the planet for numbers. It is ruled by the number ‘1’ with his beautiful wife ‘0’.Number ‘1’ and alphabet ‘A' are quite good friends. So they had made a road where you can travel between the two planets within 20 minutes!

There you go. I have introduced you to some of the main characters of the planets. So let’s start right away.

In the planet Syllabary, there lived a wonderful woman, ‘P'.She worked on her farms and grew different types of vegetables on her lands. She was quite hardworking and honest. So she was loved by everyone.

Now let us go to planet Digi. There lived the number ‘9’. Things were quite different long ago. Ms. ‘9’ actually had her face towards the right, which means she looked exactly like ‘P'.But she was quite different from her too. Her main job was stealing. She used to spend her mornings in dozing off and used to set off to work at night.

At times she would escape to Planet Syllabary. And guess what? The police, in search of ‘9’, would go to Planet Syllabary and by mistake beat up ‘P'.Poor ‘P'!

Things started getting worse by worse. While number ‘9’ was having a gala time, our beloved ‘P' was getting into trouble without doing anything wrong.

At last, ‘P' got frustrated and went to king ‘A'. “Your Majesty,” ‘P' started. “Everyone knows that I am such a good fellow. But just for the wrongdoings of ‘9’, I get beaten up. Why do I have to lead such a miserable life because of her wrongdoings?

“I see,” the King said. “Minister ‘C', do you have any idea?”

“A brilliant idea has come to my mind, Your Majesty,” ‘C' said. “But I need the help of my friend, ‘W'.”

Do as you wish, he ordered.

Within a few minutes, ‘W' came to the court. ‘C' whispered in his ears something really quick.

At last, ‘W' went up to the King. “Your Majesty, I want to ask permission for bringing Ms. ‘9’ to our court,” he said.

Permission granted.

Suddenly ‘W' started murmuring some words: -

‘My broom goes swish, swish

To grant you your wish

The knife goes chop, chop

Number ‘9’ pop up.’

There was a puff of dust and from nowhere, number ‘9’ appeared with her bed! The court trembled with her loud snores.

“I order you to wake up,” the King said loudly.

Hearing it, number ‘9’ immediately woke up.

 

“Hey, why am I here? Did you kidnap me?” ‘9’ mumbled.

But when she saw the court and the wizard grinning, she slowly started to understand everything.

“You are brought here to address the problem of Farmers ‘P'.Since you two look so alike, so Ms. ‘P' is always troubled because of you.” Minister ‘C' said. “Mr. ‘W', do your job.”

The puff of dust starts rising again when ‘W' starts chanting: -

‘My broom goes swish, swish

To grant you your wish

Number ‘9’, you are just messed

So let’s turn your face towards the west.”

When the dust settles down, the courtiers stared at the new number ‘9’, with her face turned towards left!

“Well I don’t like it, but I don’t hate…….” ‘9’ started but was interrupted by ‘C'.

“You are soon going to hate this makeover, for there is now no way you can escape. Since you always work at night, so we thought why don’t we turn your face towards the same direction the sun sets?”

And ‘C' was right. The makeover proved to be fatal for ‘9’, who got punished for her own deeds and finally gave up her job.
