Friendly Ghost

Once upon a time, there lived a friendly ghost who patrolled the streets at night. Burglars, thieves, scoundrels, murderers, he would chase with his sharpened knife. Cloaked and masked with white teeth exposed, he was a frightening sight. No one dared to cross paths with 'Ramu' the ghost, so the village remained free from crime.  

Every home in the village respected the ghost, especially the children who left half-finished glasses of milk, knowing Ramu's fondness for it.  

He drank gallons of milk and even straight from the cow's teats and soon the village ran out of milk supply.  

The Village Chief refused to call the Head Priest to release Ramu's ghostly spirit; better to live without milk and allow Ramu to patrol the village roads. Thereby keep those wicked humans, outside the village precinct.

The folklore of the friendly village ghost is sung to kids when putting them to sleep.
