Example Is Better Than Percept

Once upon a time, not long ago in the recent past. There was a school near the mountains. The school had many decent teachers, but in all of them, Mr.Gideon was different. His way of teachings was unique. He practiced life values more than he taught.

He always reached his class without being delayed. Sometimes he was seen outside his class before the bell rang. He was meticulous with his teaching, assignment, checking, revisions, tests, etc. Mr.Gideon kept a healthy distance between him and his students, time-management, self-discipline, punctuality, perseverance, etc.

All the students considered him a man without a heart. They said he only gives advises but he himself does not follow it. The students had somewhat hatred towards Mr.Gideon. There was an unobtrusive boy, who always sat quietly with underlying sadness in his bearing.

Mr.Gideon insightful eyes could see there was something wrong in his life. Mr.Gideon took extra care of knowing what was wrong with that student. 

Mr.Gideon was stunned to know that the student had lost his mother at a very young age, his father was indifferent to his healthy nurturing. Mr.Gideon decided to help him in all possible ways. He would often go to his house with his wife.

He would comfort him, teach him personally. He would give him money for his personal needs. He had instructed the boy not to disclose to anyone at school about this extra care he would get from him. The time passed. After ten years, the boy whom Mr.Gideon had adopted, became an MD cardiologist.

On the day of his wedding with his soulmate, Mr.Gideon sat at the place where his parents would have sat. The boy mentioned that whatever today he is, it is because of Mr.Gideon and his wife. The gathering was also attended by Mr.Gideon's other students. They realized they were wrong, and said his life stands for 'Example is better than percept.'
