Any man can be a father but it takes someone special to be a dad.

Three years back when I was ten years old I got to know an Indian father and daughter who were poor .The daughter's name was Alka. They both lived in a small house in a small town in Mumbai. The father loved his daughter a lot and could do anything for her but Alka did not love her father and would always fight with him. Her mother died because of cancer and she now had no one except her father, but she never spoke to him. She was sixteen years old, she had to work instead of studying to earn money. She loved her mother, but after her mother's death she couldn't accept.

She was always jealous of a girl who was as the same age as her and would dress up and put make up. This girl was not as poor as Alka, she could afford to buy new dresses, makeup etc... things which a girl wants .They both were friends. The father was very caring, he would not eat himself but would keep food for his daughter. The daughter was very graceless, she would always fight with him and make the father feel bad whereas the father was a patient man and never said anything to her.

Time passed by they both remained the same as they were before. The daughter became more disgraceful and the father became even more patient. When I got to know about this I was confused and didn't know why the father was not saying anything to her. A few days passed, for the first time in about two years she spoke to him. And the father was cheerful to hear her voice. When she spoke she asked for one thousand rupees to spend on something which was a waste. Her father told her that he does not have hundred rupees so how will he have one thousand and he would be able to give her money. When she heard this she got angry and left the house. She did not come home for two days. The father was worried about her and tried searching for her but he couldn't find her anywhere . After two days she came back but with even more hatred for her father. She missed her mother a lot and everyday would look at her mother's picture which she had kept safely with her .The mother was very pretty; the daughter, Alka looked like her mother fair and beautiful. She had friends who were not as poor as her. Alka was a big fan of the actor Amitabh Bachchan. She always wanted to meet him .

One day her friend who she was jealous of told her that her favorite actor or rather her idol was coming to her town for a film's shooting. She was very excited to go for the shooting . Alka planned everything, what she will wear, how she will go to the shooting place etc . She was just too excited. There were twenty days for Mr Bachchan to come to her town or his shooting . She went to a shop to buy a dress, as she wanted to wear something impressive in front of her idol as she thought she was pretty and could come in Bollywood. She liked a black colored long dress. When she asked the price to the shopkeeper he told her one thousand only! She screamed "ONE THOUSAND ONLY!!" She was worried and didn't know what to do. She asked her friends to give her some money but they did not give her. She knew that her father would not give her money so she did not bother to ask him. One day she was sitting in one corner of the house and was sad. Her father asked her why was she sad and she told him the whole story . He went with her to the shop and asked the price to the shopkeeper, when the shopkeeper told him the price he just walked out of the shop, he did not say anything to Alka. The days were coming closer and closer she understood that she couldn't go to meet her idol and she tried to forget about it, but she couldn't. She would be sad the whole day and would not talk to anybody .

There were two days left for Mr Bachchan to arrive, Alka had gone out with her friends and when she came back she got the biggest surprise of her life and she was in shock. It was the long black dress which Alka had liked. She was in shock because her father got her a dress but mainly because in spite of her father being blind he went alone and got her a gift for one thousand rupees. Alka understood and got to know the importance of her father in her life. She hugged him tight and she said sorry for what ever she had done .

Her father was blind he couldn't see anything but yet he got his daughter a gift and also inspite of being poor he got a one thousand rupees gift and the most important thing is that even though Alka did not like him he got a gift for her only because he loved her.

This is true love between a daughter and a father.

I am inspired by this story only because the father did not give up even though his daughter would never talk to him he knew that one day his daughter will understand the importance of him in his life. So I know that if my loved ones are not with me today, I am sure one day they will love me too and will fell the importance of me in their lives
