Dr.Duck And The Odd Measles

Dr. Duck was working on some diarrhea patients when he was called to check on a patient who was having headaches and seizures at random. Dr. Duck and many other doctors thought it was epilepsy.

 

But she was not having epilepsy. All the doctors were confused as to what could be this mysterious illness that could cause a tonic-clonic seizure in the goose. He tried an MRI scan but nothing out of the ordinary was found.

The next day the medical reports arrived. It turned out that she wasn’t vaccinated against Smallpox, Mumps, Polio, Rubella, Measles among many other things. Dr.duck’s attention was grabbed by that list and he ordered a brain biopsy.

It turned out the poor 20-year-old goose had SSPE in her brain. He told the goose’s parents that she had SSPE in her brain for 16- years and how sometimes the measles virus mutates and goes into her brain and damages it and kills its victims over a period of many years. He told the parents that he would try his best for saving their son. After a week’s treatment, the goose happily left the hospital and got himself vaccinated.
